Illinois Rocstar awarded $1M Department of Energy grant to develop open multiphysics infrastructure

We are excited to announce that Illinois Rocstar LLC is undertaking a multi-year project to help increase adoption of HPC-aided multiphysics simulation in industry. Over the course of the project, Illinois Rocstar will assemble a consortium of stakeholders from industry, government, and academia to help guide the development of an open infrastructure and standard for building parallel multiphysics capabilities.

This infrastructure will enable developers from any sector to create couple-ready software solutions without exposing any of their IP, and at a fraction of the current cost. A working reference implementation of the infrastructure will be co-developed with the standard and will be freely available under an OSI-approved, non-copyleft license. Demonstrating support and interest from relevant industry, government, and academic organizations has been instrumental in the success and continued funding of this project.  Illinois Rocstar would like to thank the following organizations for demonstrating relevant interest and support: AMAX, ATK, Boeing, Kitware, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Sandia National Laboratories, and the University of Illinois Computational Science and Engineering.
