Multiphysics Simulation.  Rocstar’s multiphysics simulation suite is adaptable for use across a broad range of needs from high-fidelity multiphase fluid dynamics, to fluid-structure interactions, to moving boundary transient simulations. Our engineers and scientists are constantly adding new capabilities to the suite tailored to the needs of our customers and we can run on your platform or ours. Multiphysics Code Assembly.  The new Illinois Rocstar MultiPhysics Application Coupling Toolkit (IMPACT) provides the means for organizations needing to build advanced multiphysics tools from single-physics codes to combine codes efficiently and robustly. Our open-source toolkit is available for download so you can roll your own or we can help you couple your codes into the advanced solutions you need to solve your hardest problems.

Mesoscale Materials Modeling.  Our integrated modeling tools open new views into materials science including detailed mesoscale simulations of energetic materials for rockets, missiles, and insensitive munitions essential to national security. Applications extend to systems such as ultra-high-performance concrete and other particulate composites. We can tomographically characterize real materials for you, construct computational packs of differently-shaped particulates with our Rocpack tool, and analyze the response of the resulting packs with a set of integrated thermomechanical property estimation and finite element tools.

High-Performance Computing.  Big problems require big iron. Our modeling software is built to take advantage of immensely powerful computing hardware like Rocstar’s own HPC cluster, Mercury. We also have access to high-performance computing clusters of staggering capacity, including a massive parallel computing network at the University of Illinois National Center for Supercomputing Applications. We have experts in computational fluid dynamics, physical chemistry, parallel computing, computational science and engineering, uncertainty quantification, physics, risk assessment and mechanical/aerospace/nuclear engineering available to work to solve your problems.
