IllinoisRocstar Mercury Cluster

IllinoisRocstar LLC has recently purchased a new in-house compute cluster named Mercury in honor of the first US manned space missions. The cluster is an advanced computational resource for IllinoisRocstar, consisting of 32 dual-processor, quad-core 2.4GHz Intel Nahelem-based nodes with 16 GB of RAM each, for a total of 256 cores and 512 GB of RAM. The cluster head-node has dual quad-core 2.66 GHz Nahelem processors and 32 GB of RAM, with 4TB of hard disk in a RAID 5 configuration. Communications are facilitated by both a Gb ethernet management fabric and a Quad-data rate (QDR) Infiniband high speed interconnect. The cluster was purchased from the AMAX company in Fremont, CA.
